A quick look at my IG feed tells you that I don’t often wear eye shadow and the full works, because frankly, eye shadow art scares me! I struggle with all that blending and visionary-ness of wearing eye shadow and usually chicken out of it, eye shadow -1 / Evanns-0.

However, because I really wanted to get into this Illamasqua palette, I watched tons of tutorials and even got me some pretty brushes to work it! (Thanks Jeffree Star, Pony and everyone else on YouTube.. was anyone else devouring all those beauty YouTuber scandals, fights and apologies over the past few weeks? WHEW!)

Since there will definitely be no tutorial here today (maybe some day…. haha) let’s go with first thoughts & product review!

First Thoughts

Illamasqua Eye Shadow – Delirious

Unboxing these beauties were delightful, the Delirious Eye Shadow Palette was solid (not one of those cheap-feeling palettes for sure) with a great colour selection (both matte and metallic) and a good mirror. Sizing-wise, this is easy to drop into your day bag, or bring on travels without taking up too much space.

I loved how I could think of colour combinations with that wouldn’t be too hard to pull off – metallic pink/matte brown, gold/brown or even just single colour looks. I would definitely say that the colours in this palette are spot-on!

Illamasqua Beyond Powder – Daze

This highlighter? Luxurious at every angle – from the casing (with the brand logo) to the mirror, and even how the baked powder shimmers in the light. It is also bigger than most other highlighters I’ve come across! Just looking at it made me excited to start experimenting.

Getting into it…

Testing them out!

Quality

The eye shadows are highly pigmented – just swiping them with a finger picks up a good, strong colour. It didn’t take much product to achieve a rich, gorgeous shade – score!

My favourite shades are definitely the metallic gold, rose and copper – they look exactly how they are meant to, and are perfect for blending and building up a look.

As for the baked highlighter powder,  I liked that you could also swipe product easily without loose powder falling everywhere. True to its promise, it delivers a pearlescent shine that looks divine in the light  – enough to be noticed without looking like a disco ball. Look at that glow in the pic below!

Application

The application for the eye shadow is extremely easy, my brushes picked up the product well and the colours were blendable. I loved how there was almost no fallout at all (no more messy cheeks with fallout powder!). Both thumbs up!

For the highlighter, my brushes didn’t pick up the colour as well, so I used my fingers to swipe and apply (maybe time for a new highlighter brush? haha). It might have needed a few more times with the brush, but I found that using my fingers to gently swipe it on easily gave me the effect that I liked. Again, no fallout = no random shiny flakes on my face, yay!

Lasting Power

The Delirious Eye Shadow Palette also promises a “long-wearing powder that melts effortlessly onto the lids for a smooth, even finish”, and I must say – I was impressed.

After a full day of shopping in BKK & night markets!

The picture above was taken after a FULL day out in sunny, humid Bangkok where we went cafe-hopping, shopping and had a great time at the night markets. No touch ups, no primers, nada! Even though my skin was obviously oily and my lippie was long gone, my eye shadow was firmly in place with no melting, creases or fade. If that doesn’t impress you, I don’t know what will!

In fact, the highlighter stayed on pretty well too – look at that subtle glow on my cheekbones!

Price + Conclusion

Whether it’s worth it or not definitely comes down to its pricing. Right now, the palette is going at 50% off – SGD $33 WITH a free gift worth $78 on Lookfantastic, while the highlighter is priced at SGD $62.50 + free gift worth $42.50. Don’t forget – free international shipping too!

Great deal? YES!

For the quality, size and ease of use, I’d say this was an overall win. What do you think?
